We’re thrilled to welcome Kay Switzer to The Pearl Works team as our new Operations and Member Success Coordinator! Kay brings energy, expertise, and a passion for helping others thrive. When she’s not keeping things running smoothly here, she’s working on her criminology dissertation or coaching CrossFit. Let’s dive in and get to know this dynamic and inspiring team member a little better.

Alora: What’s a book worth reading, and why?
Kay:
Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty is an absolute must-read. This self-help book offers profound insights into finding your purpose, overcoming negative thoughts, and creating a more fulfilling life. I recommend it to anyone ready to go deep within themselves for life’s big answers

What is one of your superpowers?

I am a sponge of information and a super-fast learner. I love obtaining knowledge and I am known for stating “the learning never stops!” I am also hyper-organized which can be super helpful for myself and those around me.

Why do you do the work you do?

I love being of service to others. There’s immense purpose in alleviating stress and supporting people through acts of service. Seeing others succeed and grow is so rewarding, and I’m grateful for any chance to help on their journey.

What’s your favorite thing about working at The Pearl Works?

I love ensuring everything runs smoothly, helping members troubleshoot, and keeping the space tidy—it’s oddly satisfying!

What do you like to do in your free time?

As a CrossFit coach and full-time PhD student,  most of my “free time” is spent on those two things. Thankfully, I enjoy them both immensely so it hardly feels like work.

What’s one thing you learned in the last month? Two fun facts: The hashtag symbol (#) is officially called an “octothorpe,” and cats can occasionally be allergic to humans.

When you visit The Pearl Works, you’ll see Kay in action, ensuring everything runs like clockwork. She and her husband Drew are in the area for the next two years while he studies at NPS, and we’re so lucky to have her onboard. Kay’s care, enthusiasm, and skills are a perfect counterbalance to my own, and I’m beyond grateful for her support.
