When I give tours of The Pearl Works or casually share about my work (I absolutely love what I do, so it’s easy to talk about), my favorite part is sharing the stories of the people who choose this community. They are the ones who invest themselves into building relationships and who truly understand the resilience that comes from belonging.
But honestly? That feels like an oversimplification.
To me, the front door of this space is a transformational threshold. Perhaps the most vital question a person with an idea can ask is: What becomes possible if I allow myself the space and conditions to be seen and supported in this moment of creativity? Once you walk through these doors, you aren’t just a coworker; you become part of a living, breathing ecosystem of courage. It’s full of people who have decided they care more about what they have to offer than the fear of standing in the spotlight.
As a coworking space, we foundationally experience how physical space informs conversation but it’s the people who breathe life into these four walls. Most of our members are allergic to bragging, so I’ve decided to be their self-appointed hype queen. Because while I love what they are building, I am even more enthusiastic about the way the build happens: the willingness to show up even on the days they don’t feel like it, the grace in integrating feedback, and the quiet persistence that hums in the air here.
Lately, it feels like the garden has decided to bloom all at once. There is a specific kind of electricity that fills the room when a messy middle grows into elegance and becomes something tangible; something that can be held, utilized, and experienced firsthand.
As the Community Operations Manager, I don't just see the end result; I am the enthusiastic recipient of the “Does this work?” questions. I see the months of agonizing over details and the refinement that happens on days when a third pot of coffee (or matcha) is a non-negotiable. Watching these heart-centered projects turn into reality is a lesson in turning spirit into matter, but watching the growth of the people behind them is the true inspirational fuel.
I have been literally jumping for joy over Luca announcing the release of the book, Forgive for You. It is a stunning, vulnerable exploration of healing, but what I’ll remember most is the persistence Luca showed through each step of the process; how the concept of forgiveness became a weekly ritual in our community through our "Forgiveness Fridays."
In the same vein of creative endurance, Caroline is deep in her children's book series releases; she is a living testament to what happens when you commit fully to stories that need to be told.
Then there are our digital builders, the ones who saw inspiration and ran with it. We’re cheering on Ji and the launch of the Scan My Pills app, a supportive tool born from the vital assertion that no one should end up in the ER because of a prescription overlap. Marshall, whose Daily Reword app is already my favorite daily ritual for sharpening my brain. Matt R., who recognized the need for a bold pivot in digital banking commerce. Watching him build this in record time, fueled by a drive to create a better experience for others, has been a masterclass in agility.
This week we also celebrated a one-of-a-kind milestone for our longtime member, Jared, who crossed the ten-year mark in his business. We crafted a community event themed around ten lessons from those ten years; sharing the wisdom of a decade of entrepreneurship with the whole community.
Even the founder of The Pearl Works, our very own Alora, is having a sparkly moment with the release of a beautiful, necessary resource on hiring. It’s built on the critical lessons she learned while moving from doing things solo to hiring the support needed to share the vision and the workload.
These moments remind me why we choose to work alongside one another. When Ji hit submit and got the green light, or when Luca shared the release announcement, they weren't alone. They had people ready to witness the accomplishment immediately.
The joy rippled through the space and the conversations swelled. That’s the magic of this chorus: when one person succeeds, it gives someone else the uplift they need to keep going. To be in a cycle of personal growth is a beautiful thing, but to witness that evolution in your friends? That is pure magic.
The Invitation
Whether you’re in the messy middle of a pivot or standing on the verge of your own fireworks moment, you do not have to build alone. You can have people like me excited about what you are creating at any stage of the process.
Come take your seat in a room that cheers for your process as much as your success.
